Our Story

Our story has always been one of joining with the story of God, following where He leads and pursuing His presence. We are a community of radical followers of Jesus called to Love God and Love People.

Our Story so Far

Dwelling Place - Glasgow was initially planted as Glasgow Westend Vineyard by Jamie and Linda Watters in May 2000. In October 2013 we changed our name to Glasgow Vineyard to better reflect our vision for the whole of the city and the fact that we serve beyond the narrow confines of the more prosperous West End. In response to God's call to move out from denominational structures and to embrace a looser fellowship of like-minded, pioneering churches across the nations, we became Dwelling Place Glasgow in 2024.

The church planted in 2000, with a vision to reach students and young adults, and to grow and develop with them. Initially the church was full of students. We helped hundreds of students find their feet in Glasgow, grow in their faith, and move on to the next phases of their lives. Some, however, have stayed with us and over time these students have grown up and had families. We now have a truly all age church; with thriving children's youth and student ministries, as well as adult small groups that meet around the city.

Commitment to seeing lives transformed by the love and power of Jesus ministry to the poor, has always been part of our DNA, taking many forms over the years. We currently have an established ministry base in Anniesland which serves the local community. From this base, we run a food bank that seeks to enact Jesus' compassion to the poor in practical ways. Here we also seek to bring the Good News of the Kingdom into lives that are hurting and broken, acting as a hub for outreach and practical acts of service.

The Next Phase of Our Story

At Dwelling Place Glasgow our heart is to see our city and our nation come to know Jesus. To be a church where people can come and have a tangible experience of the living God, as they experience the love and power of God touch their lives. Come to know Him as their saviour and Lord and grow in relationship with Him and each other as they do life together. Then go out into our communities with the radical message of good news that is the gospel.

God is on the move, there is a hunger to see more of God's kingdom as a present reality.  Pockets of renewal and revival are springing up in churches across the nations and across denominational boundaries. Churches that at one time some might have considered to be in competition are now working together. Minor theological differences are being put to one side as together we prioritise seeing God's Kingdom come. Lives are transformed, the demonised delivered, prisoners are set free, the mentally and physically sick healed, and people come into lifelong relationships with Jesus.

As we embrace this next phase of our journey, we know our story is far from over. We rejoice in our history and all that God has done in us and through us. However, we don't live for our history, nor do we camp around it. There is so much of God's kingdom that is yet to come. There is much that He is calling us to do. Much that can only be done if we keep pressing on, obediently following Jesus and being true to His word and to His call. We are excited about all that God has for us.
